Road construction works between St Hilarion junction and the Girne by-pass underpass will not be able to commence as planned due to excavations by the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) to find a possible burial site at the Ciklos area, the final bend downhill towards Girne.
The road construction works at Ciklos area was halted on March 29, after the CMP began excavations after receiving a tip off with regards to a possible burial site in the area. According to the information obtained from the CMP, the search for the possible burial site is expected to be completed sometime within next week.
Road construction and asphalt laying works on the other parts of the section between St Hilarion junction and the Girne by-pass underpass is continuing as planned.
