Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan announced that the works on the section of the Güzelyurt-Lefke bypass, between Güzelyurt and Doğancı, was to be completed soon and opened to traffic. Minister Atakan tweeted the previous day that the the section of the bypass between Güzelyurt and Doğancı will be opened to traffic once traffic signs are installed, and works to complete the remaining section will continue. Construction of Güzelyurt-Lefke began in 2013 and works had been delayed due to interim court orders taken against the nationalisation (expropriation) of immovable properties on the route of the new bypass.
On the other hand Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan and the Director of Highways Department Ahmet Aydın, held an inspection visit to the Güzelyurt-Lefke bypass and took information regarding the section which is to be soon completed. Erhürman praised Atakan and the ministry staff for the hard work they put to the project.
