Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan met with with the public transport business owners operating in Güzelyurt-Lefke area. During the meeting, gathering all public transport businesses under a single company was discussed.
During the meeting, Atakan said the public transportation system was unsustainable and the public transport infrastructure in Güzelyurt and Lefke was not sufficient enough to meet the demand deriving from the area.
Atakan said the ministry was working for the last eight months to gather businesses under one roof and preferred corporatization because it protected the rights of individuals more than any other model.
Business owners welcomed the idea of a new structure designed by the ministry and forwarded questions to Minister Atakan regarding the details.
The minister appealed to business owners to take part in the works to establish a new public transport system and said Güzelyurt and Lefke area will be the first to feel the benefits of the new structure in a very short time.
