Minister of Public Works and Transportation Resmiye Canaltay said the reconstruction works on rural roads in the west of the country will begin once the Lefkoşa Northern Bypass is completed.
Minister Canaltay visited Çamlıbel and Tepebaşı villages and met with local leaders and villagers. Canaltay said the visit was organised to listen to the thoughts and demands and answer the questions of the locals regarding road projects in the area.
Canaltay said 322km’s of village roads will be reconstructed or renovated after the TRNC Highways Master Plan 2021-2022 Implementation Protocol was signed in February this year. She said the north western part of the country will take an important share from these projects but added the local’s reaction indicated that it was not enough.
Canaltay said her meetings with locals around the country showed that many old and unusable rural roads were not included in the protocol but she managed to secure enough resources to add a total of 150km long road projects to the agenda.
