ABANDONED BUILDING AT GIRNE TOURISM HARBOUR WILL SERVE AS PACKAGE POST OFFICE

ABANDONED BUILDING AT GIRNE TOURISM HARBOUR WILL SERVE AS PACKAGE POST OFFICE

The abandoned building at the entrance of the Girne Tourism Harbour, which was handed over to the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation in 2019, will be renovated and put into use as the Girne Package Post Office.

Minister of Public Works and Transportation Ünal Üstel instructed for the building to be renovated and put into service within the first quarter of 2021.

The decision will ease the burden of Girne Central Post Office which lacks the space and personnel to put up with the growing number of package and parcels ordered by online shoppers.

All package and parcels sent to an address within the Girne district, which are also subject to customs fees, will be taxed and handed over to the receivers inside the Girne Package Post Office. The receiving person will be notified of the arrival of her/his package through SMS.

The Girne Central Post Office will continue to provide all other postal services except package post.
