OWNERS WHO HAVEN'T PAID ROAD TAX FEES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSURE THEIR VEHICLES

The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation had approached the end of the joint work executed with the Union of North Cyprus Insurance and Reassurance Companies on common information sharing and started preparations towards signing a protocol.

According to the protocol, which is aimed to be implemented in mid-September 2018, owners who haven’t paid their road tax fee will not be allowed to insure their vehicles.

In order for vehicle owners to get a yearly insurance, they will have to acquit their road tax debts which will be able to be run through the system by the Insurance Information Centre (SBM).

Owners who haven’t paid their road tax but wish to insure their vehicles will be given a one-off one month temporary insurance and asked to pay-off their road tax debts in order to get a yearly insurance for their vehicles.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation and the SBM advises owners who has outstanding road tax debts to pay their fees as soon as possible and not take any risk of driving without insurance.
