A third lane and a checkpoint at the Metehan Border Gate was opened on Monday (17.09.2018) to vehicle and pedestrian crossing after a two week planning and implementation period. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Kudret Özersay, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan and the Director of the Police General Directorate Süleyman Manavoğlu inspected the works being done before the lane was opened. The new lane will help ease the congestion at the crossing.
The lane was opened to ease the traffic congestion at the entry point into the TRNC.
