A tender will be opened in the near future for new TRNC driving licence which will be compatible with international standards and internationally recognised. Following the announcement by the Central Tenders Commission, the transition process to durable new driving licences with high security standard will begin.
Following the completion of the tender, application for new licences will begin. Those who possess the current TRNC driving licence with an expiry period over two years, will be able to change their licences with the new ones, free of charge. Those who possess licences with expiry period less than two years will be able to get the new licence by paying the predetermined fee.
Licence holders will be able to apply for renewal online and those who earn the right to get a driving licence for the first time will have to apply personally. The new or renewed licence will be delivered to the holders address on demand.
The new licences will contain a multiple laser symbol and a chip, together with other specifications making its’ duplication impossible. The new driving licences will also contain the new vehicle classifications that are used internationally.
